The Risk and Resilience Lab studies the interplay between biology and social context in children’s development. We ask questions like, “Do children react differently to their environments depending on their genetic make-up?” “How does exposure to violence affect children’s physiological development?” “What factors promote resilience to adverse childhood experiences and in what ways are children resilient?” To answer these questions we interview and collect biological samples from children and adolescents and we analyze existing data from large, nationally representative studies.
