The Risk and Resilience Lab studies the interplay between biology and social context across the life course. We ask questions like, “Do people react differently to their environments depending on their temperament or genetic make-up?” “How does exposure to violence affect young people’s physiological development?” “What factors promote resilience to adverse childhood experiences?” “Do social policies that improve families’ economic circumstances promote child and family well-being?” To answer these questions we collect biological samples from and interview children and adolescents and we analyze existing data from large, nationally representative studies.

Dr. Jaffee will be considering new graduate students for admission for Fall 2023.
